Hello Wig...

"Today, Sammi got her new wig. She looks terrific in it! As her mother, I wasn't sure if she would like anything but her natural hair, however, once again, she amazed me!!! It's SO real looking and she is thrilled! She likes it because its longer than what hers was and its nice to have something on her head because her little head got cold! We are very happy for our Sammi.
She had some lab work done today, and the results were very good. She also had a chest x-ray and the doctor showed us the picture of the first one compared to today's. We were thrilled to actually see a HUGE change! The tumor has shrunk immeasurably! That is good! But on the downside, next Tuesday she will be back in surgery for a bone marrow biopsy and a port installed in her chest which will access her chemo instead of the PICC line in her arm. She may be in the hospital for 3 days depending how she does. During that time she will also have chemotherapy treatments. So next week will be not too much fun... But she's a toughy and always loves getting text messages!!!"

Samantha go her wig yesterday and apparently loves it. I haven't seen a picture yet, but I'm sure she is thrilled with it because although she initially had a hard time with the thought of losing her hair, it was to the point where, as it started falling out, it became very dry and brittle. She ended up not having the connection o it that she thought she would have. It was actually quite a surprise to me since, as of Sunday, she was coloring it purple on Monday. She didn't want to wake up in the morning with her hair on her pillow so she figured purple hair would look like someone else's. Instead, Monday she shaved it all off. Remarkable.

I know the fam is a bit nervous about Sam's surgery next week, but I think it is great because it means things are moving along lovely. Sam has had the PICC line in from the beginning because of the size of the first tumor and the close proximity to her heart. Knowing she is getting a port in her chest means she is kicking this cancer's butt! Way to go, Sammi.
